GT Student Center & Mini Walmart

Today I just ran some errands. I needed to go to the ATM and to get a few snacks and supplies. From my apartment, this was an easy 3.5 mile round trip ride. There was almost no traffic since it's summer (and a holiday), so campus is fairly empty.

Student Center

Well today, I was just going to the ATM, but the student center has several other attractions like the food court, computer lab, craft center, convenience store, and Tech Rec.

Mini Walmart

I don't know how widely known this is, but Tech Square is home to the smallest Walmart in the U.S. It's basically just a convenience store, but with Walmart prices.

Bike Facilities

Biking through campus is quite convenient. There are bike lanes where they help, and sharrows elsewhere. Bike racks are plentiful, but they can be crowded during Spring and Fall semesters.

I don't really like the style of bike racks they have in Tech Square. They seem like they would be nice, and the low-profile is an interesting touch, but I have a hard time getting my U-lock between the two posts. I usually have to lock it the opposite way of how I normally would, which is tricky if I'm locking my helmet. I should have taken a photo, but I didn't think about it. You can see enough of one in the photo accompanying this article parodying the mini Walmart.

Before and After Maps

I guess this will make more sense in the next blog post I do, but here's a before and after of the map on the front page.
